Course Overview

A Public Health Nurse is a Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife, as well Registered Public Health Nurse, recognized by Nursing and Midwifery Boards Malaysia. This work-based programme provides training and specific clinical exposures in highly specialised disciplines of obstetrics and gynecology, the expanded scope of Family Health and Primary Healthcare, ie Maternal & Child Health, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, and Research and Innovation. Upon completion of the programme students will be registered in the supplementary clause of the Registration for Nurses (Nurses Act 1950) as a Public Health Nurse, endorsed by the Nursing Board Malaysia.

Entry Requirement 

Diploma

  • Possess Diploma in Nursing or its equivalent

  • Minimum three (3) months working experience in public health

  • Possess a Post Basic in Midwifery

  • Registered with Nursing Board Malaysia

  • Possess a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)

  • Possess Diploma in Nursing or its equivalent

  • Possess a Post Basic in Public Health Nursing

  • Registered with Nursing Board Malaysia

  • Possess a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)

International Qualification

  • Possess Diploma in Nursing or its equivalent

  • Registered with Nursing Council or Board of the country of origin

  • Possess a Post Basic in Public Health Nursing or Midwifery subject to the approval of the Selection Committee of the University

  • Possess a current Temporary Practicing Certificate (TPC) from Nursing Board Malaysia before clinical placement.

English Language Requirements:

  • IELTS: 5.5
  • TOEFL: 550 or English language as the medium of institution
