Course Overview

The curriculum provides the requisite background for students planning to attend graduate or professional schools in chemistry, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and other professional health fields. In addition to the chemistry courses in traditional disciplines, the department also offers specialized courses in environmental chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, and bio-organic chemistry. Students in the Chemistry program have the opportunity to conduct research with the faculty of the department of chemistry or participate in internship programs at various institutions and industries.

The placement of Northeastern Chemistry majors into the workplace shortly after graduation as well as their acceptance into top-rated graduate and professional programs in the country validates the strength of our program. The Chemistry Department is proud of the success of all its graduates and strives to excel by designing new coursework and programs to help Northeastern students achieve their educational and career goals.

Entry Requirement 

Admission Requirements:

High School Transcript (required for current high school students)

High school juniors and seniors: You must provide an official high school transcript to the Admissions Office at the time of your application for admission. A letter of support and recommendation from your high school principal is also required.

ACT or SAT scores (required for current high school students)

High school juniors and seniors: Contact SAT or ACT to arrange for your test score to be sent electronically to the Admissions Office, or if you or the ACT or SAT will mail your test score to the Admissions Office, make sure the original sealed envelope has not been opened. Only sealed envelopes will be accepted.

Application fee

The $30 application fee is payable by mail (check or money order), online (debit or credit card) or in-person (cash, check, money order, debit, or credit card).

Additional Requirements for International Applicants

An international applicant is a foreign student who plans to apply for or is currently in the United States on a non-immigrant student visa. As an international applicant, you are required to fulfill all of the admission requirements and submit all the required documents that domestic applicants do. Additionally, you must demonstrate that you meet eligibility requirements for:

  • Non-immigrant student visa status
  • English language proficiency
