Programme Type:

Course Overview

longside personal and professional development, we combine tuition in scriptwriting and audiovisual production with an in-depth exploration of cinema history, theory and analysis drawn from traditional Film Studies. You’ll develop employability, creative and academic skills, and graduate with a sophisticated understanding of cinema and a portfolio of self-authored work.

BA Cinema will unlock your creativity, and you’ll engage with your studies in ways that respond to your particular strengths and aspirations. We recognise change: change in you, change in the discipline we teach, and change, ultimately, in what employers want. So, whether you’re already set on a career in screenwriting, research or film production, or you’re not yet sure where your passions lie, BA Cinema will get you career ready, all the while nurturing your love of cinema.

Teaching

The course will be taught using a combination of lectures, screenings, seminars, workshops, practical activities and site visits. It is expected that students will attend formal classes for 12 hours a week, spread over three days, and work placement hours will be arranged in agreement with students.

There will also be the opportunity for additional masterclasses, screenings, events and professional networking at our Cardiff Campus, and at some of the many media-related festivals and events held in Cardiff.
