Course Overview

  • Design creative interactive content to communicate with people in an engaging and exciting manner using: text, sound, video, animation, graphics, and movement, etc.

  • Build Games, Apps, Websites, Animations, Video, Virtual Reality experiences, wearable technology, and many other interactive applications

  • Work with various technological devices such as OculusRift and Gear VR headsets, camcorders, 3D scanners, tablets, Smartphones, wearable technology, augmented reality, games consoles, etc.

Career Prospects

LIT digital media graduates work for companies such as Jaguar-Landrover, Johnson & Johnson, Icon, Salesforce, and Yahoo.

Entry Requirement 

Academic Requirements:

Progression Opportunities (Level 7)
1. A Higher Certificate (Level 6) in a cognate field, OR
2. An equivalent qualification to a Higher Certificate (Level 6) with appropriate prerequisite subjects.
 
Progression Opportunities (Level 8)
1. A pass in a relevant Ordinary Degree (Level 7) in a cognate field with an overall average performance of at least *40%. [*Except in the case of students who are progressing from the B.Sc. in Applied Biology (Level 7) or a cognate Level 7 programme, an overall average of 50% is required for application to the B.Sc. (Hons) in Bioanalysis & Biotechnology.] OR
2. An equivalent qualification to an Ordinary Degree (Level 7) with
appropriate prerequisite subjects, OR
3. A pass in a relevant Ordinary Degree (Level 7) with one
year’s suitable and relevant work experience.

Leaving Certificate

A minimum of 2 H5 & 4 O6/H7 grades in six Leaving Certificate subjects, including Mathematics and English or Irish.

Mature Applicants

Mature student (i.e. 23 years of age on 1st January for admission in September) applicants must apply through the CAO on or before 1st February.

International Applicants

Non-EU applicants should apply directly to the International Office at LIT allowing plenty of time for completing the visa process. Applications for September start should be made by July 1st at the latest.

The Academic year fee is €3000.
