Course Overview

Discover how and why businesses innovate and why enterprise is critical in the global market. Prepare for a career in the world of international business.

You will choose modules to suit your interests, subjects include international supply chains, international trade and finance and for non-native speakers, business communications. You’ll also benefit from tutors who not only provide excellent teaching but also great pastoral care. This course can be studied over one or two years. This course is available with a January or September start.

Key features

  • Study this course over two years (Level 5 and 6) or one year (Level 6 only). Providing a route for students from a range of business foundation degrees (and equivalent) to top up to Honours. The two year programme offers students the opportunity to undertake a placement between their first and second year.
  • Our innovative course embraces a broad spectrum of industry relevant modules and is especially attractive to students who wish to build a career in the vibrant international business sector. Optional modules give students the opportunity to study areas of interest, subjects include international supply chains, international trade and finance and for non-native speakers business communications.

Entry Requirement 

Academic Requirements:

For entry, onto the two-year programme you must have completed the equivalent to the first year of a UK general business degree.

For entry into the one-year programme you must have completed a foundation degree or equivalent with a business or management emphasis i.e. the equivalent of the first two years of a UK general business degree 

English Language Requirements:

The following Secure English Language tests (SELTs) are Home Office (UKVI) approved and accepted by the University of Plymouth and the University of Plymouth International College (UPIC). The scores required have been increased from the UKVI minimum specified scores to meet University requirements.

  • IELTS (Academic)
  • Trinity College London ISE (only a SELT if taken in the UK)
  • LanguageCert International ESOL 
  • Pearson PTE Academic

A SELT must be taken at an approved UKVI center.

The other tests and qualifications listed here have been deemed acceptable by the University of Plymouth and UPIC to meet our entry requirements and UKVI requirements for study at RQF 6 and above. 

Please note that these tests and qualifications are not SELTs.

When studying on a pre-sessional course or course below RQF 6, a SELT is a mandatory requirement set by UKVI. 

If studying at RQF 6 level and above, the University is permitted to accept other qualifications that we deem meet UKVI and our requirements.
