Course Overview

You will learn how to apply the principles of environmental design and engineering to the processes of architectural design, construction and building operation to deliver the sustainable buildings of the future.

Our multidisciplinary architectural engineering degree combines the creativity of architecture with the rigour of building engineering, preparing you for a successful future career designing and engineering the built environment. It focuses on sustainable buildings that use less energy, whilst still having comfortable and usable indoor environments.

  • You can study this course whether you chose to study maths/science or humanities/art-based subjects at GCSE or A Level.  
  • This course could be for you, if you are interested in architecture, engineering or buildings but still want to keep your future career options open.
  • Our BSc (Hons) Architectural Engineering course is the only one fully accredited by The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) in the UK.
  • Focuses on sustainable buildings and the fundamental interactions between architectural design, construction, building operation, the environment and humans.
  • You will be part of a vibrant multidisciplinary learning environment, working with students from other built environment disciplines, including building surveyors, construction managers and quantity surveyors.
  • You will have access to a wide range of industry-standard facilities, resources and equipment, including, a designated design studio space, specialist laboratories and workshops, Mac and PC suites, a 360-degree immersive vision theatre.
  • You can choose to undertake a one-year paid industry work placement between the second and final year of your course.
  • Each year the architectural and engineering knowledge and skills you develop come together in a real-world design project with an actual client and project brief.

Second year entry possible with a good HNC/HND or equivalent.
