Employability

You probably already know that engineering is one of the most well-paid and secure of all professions. It's also one of the most exciting! We should know – we've been educating professional engineers for over 100 years.

This course allows you to go on to study one of our HNC, HND, BSc (Hons), BEng (Hons) or MEng (Hons) courses in a range of engineering subjects. Whichever pathway you choose you can be sure that the applied technical skills that you’ll develop as an engineer will always be in demand.

Teaching and learning

A number of academic staff from different schools teach on The Extended Degree programme in Engineering. All are enthusiastic about their teaching, available and ready to support your learning experience as you move through your degree.

All modules are taught through a combination of three or more of lectures, tutorials, computer workshop, laboratory practicals, seminars and group work which deliver the intended knowledge and understanding, and intellectual/practical/transferable skills.

Most modules are assessed through both examination and individual/group coursework, with typical weightings of 70% examination and 30% coursework. There are also coursework-only modules.

Entry Requirement 

In order to be considered for entry to the programme you will be required to have:

  • A Level DD or;
  • BTEC National Diploma MPP or;
  • Access to HE qualifications with Pass or;
  • Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 64 UCAS points
  • Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).

We welcome qualifications from around the world. English language qualifications for international students: IELTS score of 6.0 or Cambridge Proficiency or Advanced Grade C
