Course Overview

The Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree at AUD is an accredited five-year program, taught by a faculty whose combination of academic qualifications and experience clearly delivers on the promise of producing highly-skilled, employable, and world-class architectural graduates. The program is complemented with extensive Accreditation & Associations that position it on the global landscape. Beyond rigorous on-hand experience, students have access to the Career Development Information as a dedicated resource to facilitate their professional careers and pursuits.

GOALS

  • Prepare students who are able to think in a multidimensional and integrative manner that combines design skills, with human and physical aspects of the architecture profession; 
  • Prepare students for making choices and decisions with regards to technologies available in the market;
  • Instill a critical attitude in students’ approach to the history and theory of architecture;
  • Prepare students who understand the human, socio-cultural, and economic dimensions of architectural design;
  • Prepare students who are aware of the contextual and environmental challenges;
  • Prepare graduates who are ethically and technically prepared to embrace the profession of architecture;
  • Prepare students who are able to communicate effectively.

Entry Requirement 

Admission Requirements:

  • The Department of Architecture maintains several well-equipped and advanced computer labs and lounges.
  • Hardware is updated or upgraded on an annual basis and can accommodate all architecturally-led software including 2D graphics, 3D modeling, and rendering, 4D animations, and walkthroughs.
  • A dedicated IT services team is on hand to help keep all resources running smoothly, as well as troubleshooting personal laptops.
  • In-house scanners, printers, and large format plotting are all available.
  • A dedicated model and furniture-making workshop is located on campus.
  • A design center serves to engage faculty and students in research and outreach to the architecture community at large.

English Language Requirements:

English placement tests are required for admissions. If you have taken any international/national exams (TOEFL/IELTS/EMSAT/SAT), please submit them with your application for evaluation. AUD's international code for TOEFL® is C005.

  • Math Requirements: Applicants with an SAT score of 560 will be exempt from taking the Math Accuplacer™ exam, except for Engineering students. Architecture students with the above score may register directly in MATH105 (Precalculus for architecture), those willing to register in MATH 210 (Calculus for architecture), will have to sit for the AUD Accuplacer and test out of MATH105. Fees

Non-refundable application fee of AED 420. A reservation deposit (non-refundable) of AED 5000 which is fully applied toward tuition is required upon acceptance for admission.

A full balance of tuition is required at least one month prior to the beginning of the term.
