Objectives

Biomedical Engineering applies the principles of science, engineering, and medicine directly to the complex medical technologies used in the prognosis, diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of the sick and injured. Biomedical engineers also require managerial and communication skills and an awareness of the economic, environmental, and social implications of their activity. Our courses are designed to provide excellent training in all these areas.

The chartered status may be reached by taking a BEng (Hons) degree followed by a Masters's degree (or Engineering doctorate) accredited by the appropriate engineering institution.

Entry Requirement 

Course Requirements:

  • 'A' Level: BBB (including Mathematics).
  • Tariff: 120 UCAS tariff points, including 'A' Level Mathematics.
  • BTEC (Level 3 Nationals only)
  • IB: 30 points total, including Higher Level Mathematics at grade 5 OR 30 points total, including Higher Level Physics/Biology/Chemistry at grade 5 and Standard Level Mathematics at grade 7.

The following is also required:

  • GCSE: A minimum of grade 4 (C) in GCSE English.

If you do not qualify for direct entry, you may wish to take a foundation programme first.

English Language Requirements:

  • IELTS: 6.0 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
  • PTE Academic: 59 overall with a minimum of 59 in each component.
