Course Overview

Students will be exposed to concepts and ideas that will allow them to develop the necessary competencies to launch a career in automotive engineering and the Freight Transport, Distribution, and Logistics (FTDL) and Passenger Transport sector.

Entry Requirement 

Academic Requirements:

Progression Opportunities (Level 7)
1. A Higher Certificate (Level 6) in a cognate field, OR
2. An equivalent qualification to a Higher Certificate (Level 6) with appropriate prerequisite subjects.
 
Progression Opportunities (Level 8)
1. A pass in a relevant Ordinary Degree (Level 7) in a cognate field with an overall average performance of at least *40%. [*Except in the case of students who are progressing from the B.Sc. in Applied Biology (Level 7) or a cognate Level 7 programme, an overall average of 50% is required for application to the B.Sc. (Hons) in Bioanalysis & Biotechnology.] OR
2. An equivalent qualification to an Ordinary Degree (Level 7) with
appropriate prerequisite subjects, OR
3. A pass in a relevant Ordinary Degree (Level 7) with one
year’s suitable and relevant work experience.

Leaving Certificate

A minimum of 2 H5 & 4 O6/H7 grades in six Leaving Certificate subjects, including English or Irish and a minimum of an O4 in Mathematics.

Mature Applicants

Candidates who hold a Senior Trade Certificate and/or National Craft Certificate in the Motor Trade area will be considered for admission to Year 3 of the programme. 
Holders of a National/Higher Certificate (Level 6) in Engineering or Technology may be considered for admission to Year 2 or 3 of the programme.

The Academic year fee is €3000.
