Course Overview

We aim to challenge your ways of thinking, behaving and learning in a supportive environment. We bring business concepts to life by continually applying them to real-life cases and encouraging cohorts to share their diverse work experiences to facilitate peer-to-peer learning. The course attracts students who are working in a wide range of organisations and this leads to rich and varied classroom discussions.

Development of personal and professional transferable skills and competencies is embedded throughout the course-smoothing your transition into higher education, underpinning employability and professional practice and the ethos of lifelong learning.

Successful completion of the course will require you to be entrepreneurial, creative, independent, analytical and critical. It will require you to work effectively within diverse teams and demonstrate strong information literacy, a spirit of enquiry and to be reflective in practice. It will also require you to exhibit a broad theoretical knowledge of a range of business functions and the wider international business environment and to be able to apply these in practice.

Teaching

The BA (Hons) Business degree is designed for students studying part-time around other work and family commitments.

Students will attend lectures and workshops one day per week on an afternoon/evening basis. Students study two modules per day in each of the Autumn and Spring Terms.

During the summer of each academic year, students complete a Reflection on Learning in the Workplace module. Students will be allocated a supervisor for these modules in addition to continuing to attend some taught sessions.

Students will generally need to match their contact hours with independent study hours each week.

Entry Requirement

The standard entry qualification for all standard USW degrees is BCC at A level.
However, it is appreciated that many prospective part-time students may wish to make an application based upon their work experience professional development activity or alternative qualifications.
