Course Overview

Understanding the role of the consumer and the importance of meeting consumer demands within today's marketplace is the central focus of this exciting and challenging programme of study.

 It addresses the processes and key issues involved in helping consumers make informed choices about the products and services they buy and use.

The course will provide you with the appropriate analytical, teamwork, organizational, and problem-solving skills and competencies necessary for a career related to consumer management, food innovation, and food education.

Entry Requirement 

Academic Requirements:

A level

Grades CCC

Applicants may be able to satisfy the requirement for one A-Level by substituting a combination of alternative qualifications to the same standard as defined by UCAS.

Irish Leaving Certificate

96 UCAS tariff points to include a minimum of 4 subjects at Higher Level and 1 at Ordinary Level, including English and Maths at O4/H6 or above.

Scottish Highers

Grades CCCCC.

Scottish Advanced Highers

Grades DDD

International Baccalaureate

Overall profile is minimum 24 - 26 points (12 - 13 at higher level).

Access to Higher Education (HE)

Overall profile of 55% (120 credit Access Course) (NI Access Course)

Overall profile of 45 at merit (60 credit Access Course) (GB Access Course)

GCSE

For full-time study, you must satisfy the General Entrance Requirements for admission to a first degree course and hold a GCSE pass at Grade C/4 in English Language and Mathematics

Essential Skills Level 2 Application of Number will be accepted as equivalent to GCSE Maths.

Essential Skills Level 2 Communication will be accepted as equivalent to GCSE English.

English Language Requirements

The minimum requirement for this course is Academic IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5.

Trinity ISE: Pass at level III also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.

Ulster recognises a number of other English language tests and comparable IELTS equivalent scores.
