Course Overview

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Economics draws upon history, philosophy and mathematics to deal with subjects ranging from how an individual household or business can make sound decisions, to societal issues such an unemployment, inflation and environmental decay.
Students graduating with a major in Business Economics have a solid foundation for interesting and rewarding careers in private business, consulting, government,
financial services, medicine and law.
The Programme:
The BBA in Business Economics is designed for students interested in the application of advanced economic analysis, principles and thinking, to the management and operation of business organizations and governmental or non-profit institutions. The curriculum affords an opportunity to combine knowledge of the structure and operation of our economy with the decision theory and problem-solving approach used in contemporary business administration.
Advising for the Business Economics major is through the Office of Undergraduate
Advising in the College of Business Administration, with collaboration from the Economics Department in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.

Freshman Requirements:
The following admission requirements apply to students who have not completed any college-level course work after completing secondary school.

  • Cumulative secondary school GPA equivalent to a 2.3 on the US grading scale for most programs. The College of Engineering requires a 3.0 and the College of Education and Human Services requires a 2.5.
  • Proof of English proficiency.
  • Students who have attended a US high school or secondary school in another country that follows the US high school curriculum must submit ACT or SAT scores. These students must submit a minimum total ACT score of 16, or a minimum old total SAT score of 770 (before March 1, 2016), or a minimum new total SAT score of 880 (after March 1, 2016). Students who are applying to the Honors College and student athletes must comply with NCAA eligibility requirements. Transfer Requirements:

  1. Cumulative GPA of 2.0 at all previous colleges and universities combined for most programs. The College of Engineering requires a 2.2 and the College of Education and Human Services requires a 2.5.
  2. Proof of English proficiency.

English Proficiency Requirements:

All international undergraduate applicants must demonstrate proof of English proficiency in one of the following ways:

  • Meet minimum test score requirements:
TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based): 78 and at least 17 in each section
TOEFL PBT (Paper-Based): 550
IELTS: 6.0 and at least 5.0 in each section
PTE (Pearsons Test of English): 50
Duolingo English Test: 100
iTEP: 3.8
ACT English Score: 20
Old SAT Critical Reading Score (Before March 1, 2016): 470
New SAT Reading Test Score (After March 1, 2016): 26
  • Successful completion of CSU's IELP (Intensive English Language Program) Advanced Level, with a grade of 80% or better.
  • Completion of English language studies (Level 112) from any of the ELS Language Centers.
  • Successful completion of 30 semester credit hours of college-level coursework from an accredited college in the United States or English speaking country with a cumulative 2.0 GPA, including the equivalent of CSU’s ENG 101 and ENG 102 with a grade of C or better. Course equivalency will be determined during the application process.
