Course Overview

Nutrition is critically important to the health of individuals and populations, and when you know how to apply the biochemical basis of nutrition to promote health and prevent diseases, you can have a tremendous impact in many lives.

To get started, you'll take core courses that will give you an in-depth understanding of applied statistics as it relates to nutrition research, nutritional biochemistry, and research methodology. You'll be immersed in research rotations beginning your first year in the program, enabling you to explore multiple areas of possible research study. Some examples include Nutritional Biochemistry, Community Nutrition, Disease Prevention, Body Composition, and Experimental Design. As a final requirement, you must present a written and oral dissertation that is a genuine contribution to the field of nutrition sciences and author a minimum of two peer-reviewed scientific publications.
