Course Overview

If you're a germaphobe, then bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites make your skin crawl—but if you're a microbiologist, these guys give you life.

To begin, you'll take part in a series of lab rotations to help you to identify your research interests. Then, you'll move on to more theme-specific courses, such as Prokaryotic Genetics and Molecular Biology and Virology. You'll also study basic cellular processes, host-pathogen interactions, and the design of innovative strategies for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases—all through our faculty labs. And finally, we want you to participate in journal clubs and complete advanced science writing courses before you complete your degree.
