Course Overview

The power of lifelong learning stands as the cornerstone to personal and professional development, and the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (M.L.S.) program at St. Norbert offers you the opportunity to rekindle your intellectual curiosity. It’s designed for adult learners who want to broaden their perspective of our ever-changing world.

While most graduate degree programs are narrow in focus, the M.L.S. offers a wide range of interdisciplinary courses and is designed to stretch your intellectual horizons.

Vision Statement

Five years from now the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies will stabilize enrollments, have wider participation from faculty, increase per semester course offerings, continue to address writing skills of students, review multiple options for thesis projects, and create more flexibility in the program, hopefully offering independent studies, study abroad opportunities, hybrid or online courses, while still maintaining that the main content of the program as face to face learning.

Entry Requirement 

Admission Requirements:

  • Arrange for your official transcripts, demonstrating a minimum grade-point average of 3.0, to be mailed by your undergraduate college or university directly to the coordinator of the M.L.S. program, evidencing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. (If undergraduate GPA is less than 3.0, you may be admitted on a probationary basis; contact the program director for details.)
  • Complete the degree application form.
  • Submit a 500-word essay that answers: What motivated you to apply to the M.L.S. program? What are your future hopes and expectations, and how do you see this program helping you to achieve those goals?
  • Submit your $50 nonrefundable application fee.
  • After your application is complete, schedule a personal interview with the director of the M.L.S. program and a member of the M.L.S. advisory committee.
