Course Overview

Our clinical doctorate program has tracks for both entry-level students, as well as licensed occupational therapists.

The entry-level track of our Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (O.T.D.) is designed for students who have at least an undergraduate degree and wish to become a licensed occupational therapist. As an entry-level O.T.D. student, your coursework will cover such topics as human anatomy, research ethics, experiment design, group theory, common diagnoses addressed by occupational therapists, kinesiology, and much more. Upon successful competition of the program, you will have met the educational requirements to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy® exam.

The post-professional tracks of the O.T.D. program are designed for licensed occupational therapists who are already working in the profession. We'll develop your expertise in program evaluation, advanced therapy services, professional leadership skills, and more. You'll start with core courses that cover fundamental theory, healthcare policy, research design, management, and higher education, among others. Then, based on your chosen track, you'll take electives such as Professional Writing, Foundations in Treatment of Visual Impairment from Brain Injury, and Occupational Therapists as Educators. In the end, you can use what you have learned in the program as you pursue leadership roles in advocacy and academia.
