Course Overview

This work-based programme will give you the opportunity to develop your abilities in the context of your current employment. It covers teaching and learning, the learning environment, alternative education and a choice of two options: creativity in education and educational autobiography.

Assessment is through a range of assignments, including making interactive displays, essays, reflective journals, and a research dissertation.

The course is delivered by an academic team with vast experience and expertise in teaching practice and education research – with a guaranteed interview for teacher training and strong employment opportunities waiting for you when you graduate.

This is a one-day-a-week taught course, ideal for those already employed in an appropriate educational setting and who wish to study whilst working.

If you're working in an educational and childcare setting, and have already completed a Foundation Degree, you'll find that converting your qualification into a BA (Hons) Education will open up a range of opportunities for career progression.

You’re guaranteed an interview for teacher training after you graduate from this degree, and have excellent employment opportunities if you want to start your career in an educational or related setting. You’ll also be very well prepared to take a PGCE or employment-based route into teaching or to carry your studies on to Masters's level.

You’re never on your own on this degree. Even when you are out on placement, you’ll be visited by a tutor. Further resources will be available through our visual learning environment and monitored chat rooms, with tutor input, to enable you to communicate with your fellow students and learn from each other’s experiences.

As an undergraduate Law and Social Science student, you will be allocated a named tutor during your first semester at LSBU.  The role of your tutor is to be your primary contact for academic and professional development support.
