Course Overview

You will learn to create images and objects that contribute to the preservation and advancement of culture through rigorous studio practice, studies in the history of art and professional seminars.

As a humanistic discipline, the fine arts emphasize self-discovery and realization of individual creative potential as invaluable assets in both career and personal development. The pursuit of a fine arts career is a commitment to creating images through which artists may identify and critique society. Thus the artist contributes to the preservation and advancement of culture.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is an intensive professional program of study specifically designed to prepare you to enter the field of fine arts and/or continue your studies in graduate school. The BFA allows you to collaborate with faculty on independent special interest problems. 

Fine Arts at the University of Dayton offer the creative individual a wide variety of artistic experiences designed for personal enrichment and high degree of originality. A faculty of highly qualified artists offers instruction in such areas as painting, drawing, ceramics, illustration, sculpture, and printmaking. Fine art studio classes provide a broad base of experience for the individual seeking to explore the diverse possibilities of artistic expression and thought. The department offers a broad selection of courses that provide beginner as well as the committed artist with a range of experiences that are intended to enhance and expand a student’s creative abilities.
 

Entry Requirement 

Admission Requirements:

Applicants to the University of Dayton Doctor of Physical Therapy program are expected to meet all of the following minimum requirements:

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA across all schools attended.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA for all general prerequisite courses.
  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university prior to the start of the DPT program.
  • Grade of C or better in all prerequisite courses. Grades of C- or lower will not be accepted.
  • Minimum of 64-semester credits and four or more prerequisite science courses with labs must be completed at the time of application.
  • Completion of all prerequisite science courses must be within the past ten years. Science coursework that is older than 10 years will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Advanced Placement (AP) and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) credit will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. For consideration, CLEP and AP credit must be indicated on a college transcript with the course number for which credit was received.

Academic Requirements:

For consideration applicants applying under Early Assurance must meet or exceed the following:

  • Minimum 3.4 cumulative GPA across all schools attended.
  • Minimum 3.4 GPA for all prerequisite science courses.
  • Minimum Official GRE Composite Score of 300 or higher and an Analytical Writing Score of 4 or higher.
  • Completion of Early Assurance school-specific questions.
