Course Overview

Music Education majors hold the future of music in their hands, and our students are well prepared to fulfill that mission. In addition to a thorough foundation in the fundamentals of music, students receive extensive training in preparing successful lessons, rehearsals and all other aspects of school music programs.

Students take classes in teaching instrumental, vocal and general music. Early field experiences at local public schools provide hands-on observation and teaching experience from the very start. Both the undergraduate and post-baccalaureate programs meet the standards set by the State of Ohio for the multiage license in music. For those currently teaching, our Master of Music in Education may be completed fullor part-time in the evenings.
