Course Overview

Our economy, our culture, our security, our health, and almost every area of our lives are affected by events taking place far from home. Leaders and decision-makers of the 21st century need to possess the skills and knowledge to manage the globalized workplace and corporation, the globalized political environment, and globalized human services.

Global issues can no longer be addressed by a single discipline, department, or way of thinking. That’s why Global Studies is an interdisciplinary experience. That means that as a Global Studies major, you’ll take classes in sociology, politics, biology, and business. This broad perspective will help you learn to think critically about complex global issues. Global Studies at Saint Leo is unique in Florida and the Southeast. In addition to this broad interdisciplinary outlook on global issues, we help you develop the practical skills needed to understand relationships and solve problems. You’ll study foreign languages to gain insight into diverse cultures. You’ll learn conflict resolution skills. And you’ll be trained in systems thinking, which is a way to approach complex issues to build solutions.
