Course Overview

In today’s increasingly interconnected world, understanding the central issues and trends that characterize twenty-first-century politics requires students to look beyond the borders of any single nation and adopt a global perspective. The Politics BSc (Hons) at City will provide you with the analytical skills, and theoretical and methodological tools that will help you address the key questions that are central to understanding politics today.

The BSc (Hons) Politics will enable you to:

  • Investigate how national politics influence global political phenomena.
  • Develop strong analytical skills, learning how to compare political phenomena taking place in different countries to improve your knowledge of contemporary politics.
  • Broaden your regional and country-level expertise with a range of modules on the politics of emerging powers.

This course will challenge you to apply the key theories and approaches of the politics discipline to explore the diversity of political processes and political systems across different countries and regions of the world.

Entry Requirement 

Course Requirements:

A Level

  • 'A' Level: Grades BBB or 120 UCAS tariff points
  • A-Level General Studies and A Level Critical Studies are not accepted
  • GCSE pre-requisites: English Language and Mathematics or Statistics at grade 4 (or equivalent).

International Baccalaureate (IB)

  • 29 points including 5,5,5 from three Higher Level subjects (no specific subjects required).

Access to Higher Education

A typical offer for an Access applicant would be: Pass 60 credits, 45 Level 3 including at least 27 at distinction and the remaining 18 at merit. The Access qualification should be supplemented by at least a grade 4 (C) in Mathematics and  English Language at GCSE.

English Language Requirements:

IELTS: 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.

PTE Academic: 58 overall with a minimum of 51 in each component.

Fees

UK Students: £9250 

EU Students: £16240 for the first year of study

Non-EU Students: £16240 for the first year of study
