Course Overview

The courses offered through the program constitute a balance between the academic and practical directions. The program also lays the foundation for postgraduate studies and for professional studies in accounting. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Define, evaluate and implement criteria according to which economic decision-makers are defined and relate them to the analysis of the accounting environment to identify perspectives.
  2. Identify, evaluate and analyze constitutional characteristics and functional areas of organizations and their relations (i.e. goals and objectives, ownership, size, structure, logistics, finance, human resource)
  3. Recognize and assess the impact of micro-and macroeconomic determinants of organizations’ decision-making (i.e. allocative and technological efficiency, profitability and market competitiveness, financial and monetary institutions).
  4. Evaluate and implement principles of law and apply them in accounting practices.
  5. Examine and assess the performance of financial markets and institutions
  6. Identify and analyze the purpose and objectives of corporate governance and evaluate the roles of external parties involved in it.
  7. Comprehend follow and implement existent and new technology and its impact on new/future markets.
  8. Identify, implement and master adequate tools for articulating and solving accounting problems.
  9. Build and critically examine accounting reports and professionally analyze related problems.
  10. Master and assess audit of an organization and design consultancy plans (i.e. tax law, investment, case studies, project work)
  11. Appraise corporate and personal ethical stances and critically assess the determinants of the cultural context of ethics and corporate social responsibility

Entry Requirement 

Admission Requirements:

Candidates for a bachelor's degree program should submit a school leaving certificate from a recognized six-form secondary school (high school) with an average grade of 75% (Greek Cypriot secondary schools) or a grade “C” or its equivalent (other secondary schools), or equivalent qualification. Candidates who submit a six-form secondary school leaving certificate but do not meet the above grade requirements may be admitted on probationary status if they show potential for educational advancement. The probationary status will be removed, subject to satisfactory academic performance. Candidates admitted on probationary status may also be asked to enroll in foundation courses in order to improve their skills and/or to take a reduced load.

Freshman Admission

Refers to candidates who are applying directly from the secondary school and have no previous additional or university education experience.

Transfer Admission

Candidates who have graduated from a recognized six-form secondary school, and have completed university-level work in an accredited program at an institution other than Frederick University, are eligible to apply for transfer admission. Such candidates should, along with their application form, submit the following documents:

  • A six-form secondary school (high school) leaving certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Official transcripts (grade reports) and syllabi (course descriptions) for all University coursework taken to date.

Transcripts are evaluated by the relevant department to determine the number of credits to be transferred in accordance with the Frederick University curriculum requirements and the candidate's academic performance.

Transfer students regardless of the number of credits transferred should complete at least half of the ECTS credits required by the program of study at Frederick University in order to be eligible to graduate. For a 4-year 240 ECTS program, a transfer student must complete a minimum of two years of full-time study (120 ECTS) at Frederick University in order to be eligible to graduate.

English Language Requirements:

Students whose native language is not English will have to take the Frederick University English Placement Test (FUEPT). Students who are qualified for exemption from the English Language Courses should apply to the Center of Languages with the necessary documentation.

Students who are not competent in the English language are required to take special English classes to improve their skills and, when necessary, they will take a reduced load for that semester. Students who may need more vigorous preparation will take an intensive course in English before enrolling in a regular program. Intensive courses commence at the beginning of the fall and the spring semesters.
