Our seven-week pre-sessional English language course is highly intensive and designed to help students adapt socially and academically before the start of the academic year as well as enabling them to meet the English language entry requirements for their chosen award.
During the seven-week Pre-Sessional English Language course you will receive twenty-three hours of taught classes each week with regular tutorials and a Saturday excursion. Most materials will be supplied free of charge although you will be required to purchase one textbook at a cost of approximately £25.
The Pre-sessional English language course will help you to develop your general and academic English language skills in four key areas:
Writing for essays, research reports and examinations
Reading journals, articles and books
Listening to lectures, debates and discussions
Speaking during seminars and presentation
Entry Requirement
Applicants need a valid offer for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of South Wales. In additional, you must also have an IELTS (Academic) score of at least 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in each component. If you require a visa to study in the UK, you must take the IELTS for UKVI version of the test. Students studying a course requiring a higher IELTS score than 6.0 may require a longer pre-sessional English course.
