Course Overview

Economics students learn to think critically about how choices are made in the presence of scarcity. Undergraduate education in economics enables individuals to better understand and help resolve problems in today's business and society.

Your pursuit of a degree in economics will provide you with a broad liberal arts background. You’ll relate economics to the social sciences, humanities and scientific method to help you understand how economics plays a role in all facets of life.

Required courses include microeconomics and macroeconomics, a senior seminar in applied economics and five additional economics electives chosen from a variety of fields. Supporting courses in calculus and statistics prepare you for the quantitative nature of economics.

In order to prepare you for work in our global society, you will also complete a language requirement. You may satisfy the requirement by taking a proficiency examination, completing an intermediate-level language course or participating in an approved education abroad experience.
