Course Overview

You will develop a critical approach to the present worldwide challenges, such as decarbonisation and climate neutrality or the impact of depleting non-renewable resources. You’ll gain a deep understanding of the connection between major economic decisions taken and their possible impact on our ecosystem.

There are unique benefits of studying Regional and Environmental Economics at Corvinus. Our programme is accredited by AESOP (the Association of European Schools of Planning) – no other university in Hungary shares this accolade. The accreditation assures the quality of your learning experience (aligning with internationally recognised best practices and contemporary topics), subsequently boosting your employment prospects!

Our programme is also ranked 39th in the world by Eduniversal (2021) for a programme related to sustainability and environmental management.

Our professors are distinguished practitioners and experienced academics. You will also hear from international guest lecturers and business leaders in Hungary about how development policy planning works; how can sustainability be achieved in the corporate world; and how innovative economic decisions can aid society in the fight against climate change. You will have the opportunity to join mentoring programmes with external partners (National Adaptation Centre Department of the Hungarian Mining and Geological Survey; Hungarian Society for Urban Planning), which will widen your perspective on the latest environmental issues and solutions available.

For admission onto the Regional and Environmental Economic Studies programme, you will typically hold an economics, agricultural or business-related degree. We accept applicants from other academic backgrounds who meet the compulsory credit requirements stated below.
