Course Overview

The Online DJ School at Musicians Institute provides in-depth knowledge and training for aspiring DJs, producers, beat-makers, remix artists & electronic musicians. From vinyl to Traktor Pro to Serato DJ Pro, students will learn how to create tracks on all the leading software and hardware in the industry, so they can confidently step into any role.

MI’s online DJ program in Los Angeles offers students the skills to kick off a successful career on the decks, and the ability to move confidently between interfaces. MI students are provided with in-depth knowledge and training in the latest technologies, tools, software and techniques used in contemporary electronic performance and production.

Some of MI’s available comprehensive classes for DJing include subjects in Beat-Matching, Vinyl Turntablism, various DAWs such as Ableton Live and Maschine, Remixing, Sound Design and much more. Because we are in the age of virtual DJ sets and concerts, our courses in Digital DJ solutions such as Traktor Pro and Serato DJ/ Serato DJ Pro are even more important than ever.

Students will also be trained on tools that have shaped DJing, such as Vinyl DJ’ing, Controllers and CDJ setups. These skills are great in building their foundation and musicianship, opening up countless opportunities in the future.

Musicians Institute’s Certificate in DJ Performance and Production is a 2-quarter, 30-unit program for aspiring DJs, producers, beat-makers, remix artists, and electronic music composers and performers. Students are provided with in-depth knowledge and training in the latest hardware, tools and techniques used in contemporary electronic performance and audio production.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

  • Students are provided with in-depth knowledge and training in the latest hardware, tools and techniques used in contemporary electronic performance and audio production.
  • Classes stay updated with trends in the industry, focusing on digital DJ solutions such as Traktor Pro, Serato DJ, Serato DJ Pro.
  • DJ students will learn various DAWs, such as Ableton and Maschine, to allow them to create and build tracks from beginning to end.

Entry Requirement 

A. Submit two examples of your original material or arrangements (voice or instrumental, any style) representing your strengths and creative direction as an artist or producer.

B. Speaking Voice: Record your own speaking voice explaining the following:
1. Why you want to attend Musicians Institute.
2. What your role was in the recorded examples you have submitted, including what instruments you played (if applicable) and who wrote, produced and engineered each song.
