Course Overview

The BS in Applied Mathematics gives students the tools to combine mathematics with another quantitatively rich subject area that is directly concerned with applications, such as the sciences, economics, or engineering. The BS in Applied Mathematics is recommended for those students who intend to pursue a career in a field that requires advanced mathematical training, often beyond an undergraduate degree. Such students are likely to continue their mathematical studies in a Ph.D. or Master's program. The degree requires from 51 to 52 credit hours of coursework.

Entry Requirement 

Minimum Competency Requirement

A grade of C- or better is required for ALL courses listed as Basic Requirements and Additional Requirements submitted in fulfillment of the Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics degree. Students may not enroll in any course having prerequisites unless the minimum grade of C- has been earned in the prerequisites or unless special permission has been granted in writing by the Chair of the Mathematics Department. Prerequisite courses may not be taken after successful completion of any subsequent course.
