Course Overview

The world is growing progressively more complex as we encounter new health risks with a growing list of occupational pollutants, toxicants, and occupational injuries. Occupational safety and health is an area concerned with protecting the safety, health, and welfare of people engaged in work or employment. The aims of occupational safety and health programs include fostering a safe and healthy work environment. Occupational safety and health may also protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment.

Occupational safety and health are the branches of public health that are concerned with the effects of occupational exposure factors on the health and well-being of people in the workplace. There is a strong demand by the global health care world for a new breed of contemporary occupational safety and health practitioners. The Occupational Safety & Health Act 1994 requires industries to employ a competent safety and health officer to resolve matters related to workplace safety and health.
