Course Overview

The course also creates awareness to learners on the valuable and important role of assistant educators in supporting and assisting educators in the daily activities of an early childhood setting.

Objectives

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of child development theories when working with children;
  • Provide a warm, caring, and responsive relationship in classroom management and supervision of children;
  • Assist in preparing and be involved in carrying out simple activities and learning experiences with children;
  • Gain knowledge on children’s health and nutritional requirements;
  • Carry out routine care, rituals, and transitions; and
  • Appreciate their roles and responsibilities as a caregiver.

Entry Requirement 

Admission Requirements:

  • Applicants should be at least 15 years of age at the time of application
  • Completed at least Secondary 2 Education

Note: There must be supporting documents for the 8 years of formal education where the medium of instruction is to be in English.
*Trainees who are not able to produce the supporting documents will be required to take the NIM’s English Proficiency Placement test and/or do a short interview.
