Course Overview

The College of Law seeks to introduce the Doctor of Philosophy in Law program to achieve a three-pronged system: the axis of knowledge, the axis of skill, and the axis of innovation, in order to ensure that graduates of this program meet the needs of the local, regional and international community, and keep them abreast of scientific and technological developments, in a way that makes them - always - able to innovate Solutions for all disputes in the field of specialization.

The objectives of the doctoral program in light of the UAE system of qualifications:

  • Deepening the student's knowledge of legal majors, and their relevance to community issues.
  • To provide the community with qualified graduates who are able to assume their responsibilities in teaching, planning, and developing their institutions.
  • Enabling students to conduct specialized comparative legal research and studies in a way that enriches legal knowledge.
  • Instilling a spirit of creativity and continuous cognitive development among students in the field of law.
  • Empowering students to achieve high career goals and occupy leadership roles in Emirati society.
  • Qualifying students to deal with legal problems and issues.
  • Enable students to develop critical thinking skills.
  • Contributing to the development of the UAE society and other societies of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
  • Preparing educated qualified citizen cadres of the highest degree in all legal disciplines needed by the labor market, which contributes to the continuation of the societal development process.
  • Encouraging scientific competencies to creativity and innovation, developing scientific research, and directing it to address the issues of the Emirati society and other societies of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries

Entry Requirement 

Course Equivalency Requirements

For the equivalency of courses taken by the student in a Ph.D. program in any other educational institution, the following conditions are required:

  1. The student must be transferred from a university recognized by the Ministry of Education - Higher Education Affairs in the United Arab Emirates.
  2. The student’s grade in the course requested to be equivalent should not be less than 80% or (b).
  3. The course should not have passed more than two academic years.
  4. The course should not be included within the requirements of a previous academic degree obtained by the student.
  5. The grade of the equivalent course should not be included in the computation of the GPA for a doctoral degree from Ajman University.
  6. The number of courses that are equivalent should not exceed 25% of the total courses in the Ph.D. program at Ajman University.
  7. The inability to accept duplicate credit hours for one course completed in two different universities.
  8. Submit a course equivalency request to the University's Admission and Registration Department as part of the program's enrollment application.
