Course Overview

Strong links between clinicians and the University are already in place and the student will develop their research questions with their clinical line manager and university supervisor(s) before undertaking appropriate experimental laboratory and/or clinical work to answer these and produce a thesis of novel publishable work.

The programme enables the student, with the support of the University and clinical supervisors, to ensure that all of the necessary skills to be an excellent researcher can be acquired.

Areas in which the University has particular strength are drug discovery (particularly cancer), diseases of the skin, and vascular disease.

Entry Requirement 

Academic Requirements:

Candidates should be able to exhibit both professional qualifications and clinical practice.

A medical or dental qualification e.g. MBChB, MBBS, BDS, BChD.

Registration with the GMC or GDC of the UK.

A minimum of two years of clinical practice following GMC or GDC registration, with an additional year in specialist practice.

English Language Requirements: 

IELTS at 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each of the sub-tests (or the equivalent).

If you do not meet the IELTS requirement, you can take a University of Bradford pre-sessional English course.

Note: (there may be an additional bench fee of £5000 or £10000 depending on the research project. This will be determined by the Faculty at the point of application.)
